Peace of Mind
We constantly monitor our network connectivity and server performance from multiple locations through the US. Our alerting system will notify us in the event of an outage or site slowness--usually within two minutes of the event. As we have 24 x 7 support coverage, our engineers will begin to remedy the problem before you or your customers realize an issue exists.
Moving is Hard
Moving your existing Web site is no trivial task. Which is why we provide a dedicated web-hosting engineer who will work exclusively with you and your staff to ensure a smooth transition. Typically a web-hosting engineer is assigned for the first fourteen (14) days of a new account, though this can be extended at your request. Once your Web site is up on our servers, we continue to provide expert 24 x 7, one-stop support via our 800 number and email.
Proactive Disaster Recovery
In the event we cannot immediately remedy a problem, our engineers will immediately implement our Disaster Recovery Plan, which includes failing your Web site over to another geographically diverse location-completely transparent to you. While all of our data centers do utilize redundant power, diverse fiber optic building entries and multihomed network routing, problems can still arise from time to time. Many providers depend solely on one network or data center to support all of their customers. SecurityMinded uses multiple network providers (currently eight (8)), and multiple geographically diverse data centers separated by thousands of miles.
Daily offsite backups are included with all accounts. We will maintain six to eight months of your daily backup files offsite for your protection. Should you accidentally delete a file, simply send a detailed e-mail message to us and we can restore it for you from our backup-free of charge! (Of course we recommend that you always maintain your own backup of anything that is of importance to you).
Lessons Learned
One of the lessons learned from the recent East Coast power outage was the importance of implementing and testing disaster recovery plans. For example, even though many data centers had onsite generators, they still lost power because of generator failure. Most of which were attributed to lack of prior testing and employee training. While many customers of web hosting providers on the East Coast experienced an outage lasting many hours, SecurityMinded customers hosted on our New York server experienced less than 10 minutes of downtime! Our engineers diligently implemented our time-tested Disaster Recovery Plan and brought all affected customers back online at our alternate location.
Communication is the key
As part of our commitment to total customer care, you'll be notified five to seven days in advance of any planned network or system maintenance that would result in downtime. The only exception to this would be in the event of a critical security update, which if exploited, could compromise one of our servers. Should we anticipate downtime lasting more than five minutes we will call every affected customer and explain the situation. Maintenance is typically scheduled during off-peak hours, 2 a.m. - 4 a.m. EST.
